TEAM PROJECT CONCLUSION
Coming to the conclusion of our Team Project, we as a team reflected on the work we put in throughout the duration of the assignment. By doing so, we also thought about the insightful observations and calculations that went into analyzing the Abbott Power Plant and Rankine Cycle.
While actually visiting the plant, it was really cool to see each process of the Rankine Cycle in person. More specifically, seeing the sizes of the pump, boiler, turbines, condenser, and overall the entire facility helped us grasp how much actually goes into this cycle. After visiting and touring the Abbott Power Plant we had a general idea of each process and the cycle itself, but by completing research and calculations for Deliverable 1 we were able to understand the cycle even more thoroughly. When working on Deliverable 2 we realized that we wanted to get more photos for our 3D virtual tour, so after our initial visit, one member of our team was able to go back to the plant and take more pictures with a 360 camera. This ensures that we were able to accurately portray the entire facility and processes more closely for an in-depth presentation.
Overall, this project was definitely very insightful for each one of us. We were able to use what we learn in the classroom and put that to real-world problems and processes, specifically the Rankine Cycle. Touring the Abbott Power Plant allowed us to experience what it takes to maintain the processes in the Rankine Cycle and all the different components that go into that. By completing research, calculations, and analyzing each process we were able to gain an in-depth understanding of this cycle while simultaneously helping build a strong foundation of knowledge in thermodynamics in each one of us.
